Q&A with Crimson Author Galen Rose

And the good times continue to roll as we get closer to the release date of my debut novel, Rush, on August 13th. I’ve invited fellow Crimson Romance author, Galen Rose to chat with us here today about her contemporary romance novel, A Place to Rest My Heart. Galen had fun answering my questions and I just know you’re going to enjoy her answers.

Please welcome Galen Rose!

Beth: What is the one thing about you that people would be most surprised to know?

Galen: That I am an avid Dungeons and Dragons gamer. I have been playing role-playing games for more than twenty years and still get together with friends to game. It is a great way to use up some of my over-active imagination and have a hilarious time with good friends.

Beth: D&D? Really? Careful, Galen. Your 80’s are showing. :-) Where is the furthest place from home you’ve ever visited?

Galen: Many years ago, (1988) I spent three weeks traveling between England, Ireland and Scotland. It was a terrific trip and a huge learning experience. I need to go back!

Beth: I’m so jealous! What are your pet peeves?

Galen: People who feel they are entitled and treat others badly because of that attitude.

Beth: I second that. What is your favorite gadget?

Galen: It’s a tie between my iPad and Kitchen-aid mixer!

Beth: If your book was made into a TV show or movie, who would you want to play your characters?

Galen: Missy Peregrym would play Laney and Sean would be played by Irish actor, Kevin Ryan.

Beth: What was your favorite chapter or scene to write in your book? Why?

Galen: The fight in the alley between Laney, our heroine and a mugger. I have done a lot of re-enactment theater over the years such as Renaissance faires and sword fight demos. I was even part of a group sword demo for the Reno RWA convention. I like acting them out for accuracy and making sure the moves are possible in any situation.

Beth: What was your favorite book as a kid? What is your favorite book now?

Galen: It was discovered when I got to third grade that I could not read very well. I had been sick quite a bit as a child and missed out on phonics. Once we go that fixed, I started gobbling books up like crazy. One of my early favorites was The Outsiders, by S.E. Hinton. But my favorite now would have to be Agnes and the Hitman, by Jennifer Crusie and Bob Mayer, it is hilarious!

Beth: I love Agnes and the Hitman! Which of your characters would you like to meet in person? Why?

Galen: It is a secondary character named Chase. He has a very interesting past and has worked very hard to keep it hidden. I hope to bring his story out in the future.

Beth: If you got the opportunity to warn encourage an aspiring writer, what advice would you give?

Galen: Don’t quit. There are bumps, and sometimes huge gaping potholes along the path but if you want to write…WRITE!

Beth: Excellent advice. What are you working on now, Galen?

Galen: A left at the alter story set in Maui.

Beth: Ah, Maui. (big sigh) Where can readers stalk you?

Galen: You can find me on my website, Pinterst, and Facebook.

Thanks Beth! These were fun questions!

Beth: My pleasure, Galen. Thanks for stopping by! And here’s the back cover teaser for Galen’s novel, A Place to Rest My Heart

When Laney Murphy walks into Muldoon’s Pub in San Francisco, she has no idea that her life is about to change forever. The Muldoon family’s offer of a job and a place to stay seems just too good to be true. And once she meets Sean Muldoon, the suspicious and distrustful son of the pub owners, she knows she was right – he clearly detests her.

Sean is on the fast track as a bodyguard with Woo Security and he isn’t going to allow some grifter to get in his way or to mess with his family. But he soon discovers that Laney is not all sharp tongue and sarcasm, and he finds himself wanting to kiss her more than deck her.

But Laney’s past comes back to haunt her and she soon must put her life on the line to save Sean and the family she has come to love.

Galen Rose lives with her very patient, supportive husband, a teenage son determined to give her more gray hair than their 3.5 cats. When she is not touching up the gray, chasing out the wildlife the cats bring in, she can be found imagining and writing more adventures for her characters.

Galen will be stopping by periodically, so if you have any questions for her, please ask away!

About Beth

Best selling author Beth Yarnall writes romantic suspense, mysteries and the occasional hilarious tweet. A storyteller since her playground days, Beth remembers her friends asking her to make up stories of how the person 'died' in the slumber party game Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board, so it's little wonder she prefers writing stories in which people meet unfortunate ends. In middle school she discovered romance novels, which inspired her to write a spoof of soap operas for the school's newspaper. She hasn't stopped writing since. For a number of years, Beth made her living as a hairstylist and makeup artist and co-owned a salon with her very best friend. Somehow hairstylists and salons always seem to find their way into her stories. Beth lives in Orange County California with her husband, two sons, and their dog where she is hard at work on her next novel.
