Greetings good blog folk! I have something very special for you today on Ye Olde Blog of Wonderland Delights- a blog hop and a give away. But not just any kind of blog hop and definitely not any old kind of give away. You see the wonderful authors of Crimson Romance have joined together for this hop… more than 40 of us! Every stop has a fantastic prize but not only that there are 3 wonderful grand prizes, too.
My publisher Crimson Romance offers a wonderland of stories from time travel, to historical, and everything in between. Isn’t that what reading is all about, being swept away to another place and time?
When I began writing my novel, Rush, I thought about where to set it. I’d been wanting to set a book in the south and my first choice was Alabama. A few years ago I traveled there with my sister. It was spring and everything was in bloom. I swear it looked like the roads were one giant flower shop, all the color!
The heroine of Rush is the host of a Home Shopping type show for adult toys. As I researched the location for the book, I discovered that Alabama has a law banning the sale of adult toys. Yeah, I was surprised, too. Residents can’t even order them online. Well, bummer, I thought. Back to the drawing board.
I finally settled on Dallas, Texas. At one time Texas had a law similar to Alabama’s, but it had been repealed a few years earlier. I’ve been to Dallas a few times and really like the city. It’s very clean and the people were very nice. Dallas it was!
But what time of the year should it be? What would the weather be like?
I chose mid-summer when temperatures are the highest because it would metaphorically mirror the intensity between Lucas and Mi. The heat is a constant as is the pressure they’re under and the attraction that builds between them. It’s a near tangible thing. In a novel, nothing is happenstance. Not even the weather. It’s all of the elements joined together that help to create a wonderland readers will happily fall into.
And now for the win… One (1) lucky entry will win a trio of crystal bracelets from me (US residents only) by commenting below and be automatically entered to win three (3) grand prizes (international)…

The best setting I think is a snowy winter stuck in a cabin…That is where I would love to be right now.
That’s a common theme in romance novels for a reason… it works. How could they not fall in love?
My favorite setting modern day. I love military themes. They are full of drama and excitment! They have an alpha male and a strong woman. The sparks fly. I love the back and forth tension when he falls for her. He will move heaven and earth to claim her. He is very protective to the point of giving his life. The bond is for life. Perfect reading.
Thanks for the opportunity to share.

I love Alpha heroes too! Thanks for stopping by my blog.
I don’t care what the setting is for the books I read. It can be on another planet, in the past, in the future, in the present. I am a sucker for the HEA which is why I like the romance books. I especially like the paranormal or futuristic romance books with HOT SEXY Alphas heroes and kick ass heroines and get me hooked in the first few chapters.
Thanks for being part of the hop and for the chance to win.

Yup, the HEA is why romance is my favorite genre. Thanks for commenting Renee.
i don’t care what the setting is for books i read as long as it’s a good story

I agree. Characters and story are what matter most. Thanks for stopping by, Laurie.
I love the Civil War time period, highlanders, and regency. I love New Orleans setting for my paranormals.

Have you ever been to New Orleans, Dawna? It’s perfect for vampires. Thanks for stopping by!
I love blog hopping because it adds new books to my to read list!

My fav location is NYC! I love reading about places I know!
I love NYC. I’ll have to set a story there someday. Thanks April!
I do love the autumn season, but I have to say I will visit any place or time if the author draws me with their characters. Isn’t it interesting the information you find out when researching a book…Alabama’s no shopping certain items rule…who would have known
Characters are what pull me in too, Carole-Ann. Thanks for commenting!
Any setting is great. I love going back in time to historical eras in romance novels. But as long as the book is good and grabs my attention, it will be a keeper.
Thanks for the hop!!

I love a good setting; something that pulls the characters and plot together. My favorite setting is in the mountains during the Fall or Winter. Nothing like the extreme elements to force a reluctant couple together
I like historicals set in the 1800′s (mid century more so)
as for a setting like them from a western setting to London Society to a wooded secluded countryside.
Thanks

I love regency romances, definitely! But, as for setting — something remote and beautiful — wilderness is good!

The setting of the book doesn’t matter to me. As long as there are strong characters and an involving plot, I’m hooked!
Thanks for the chance!

That sounds like a fun book!! I had no idea that law existed in Alabama (or anywhere, for that matter!).
I’m not sure i have a favorite setting; I just like books that take me “elsewhere.” Whether it be a historical or contemporary, I like a story that really carries me away into the world of the characters. (melaniermeadors@gmail.com)
I love Scotland, in the year 1200-1500
*weeping* I live in Australia …
)
I love all aspects of Historical romance. Thank you for allowing me to add anew author to my growing list
I like m/m with contemporary settings (though some recent historicals are fun, like Charlie Cochet’s ’30s-style stories)…

I like modern day with paranormal aspects.

I don’t have a setting preference as long as there is a good plot!
Thanks for participating in the blog hop!

I don’t think I have one particular setting I favor more than others. I mean, I do like the quiet, secluded cabins, but as long as the characters are written well, I’m fine traveling anywhere in my novels.
Thanks for participating in the hop. Happy Thanksgiving.

I don’t have any particular setting that I prefer. As long as the story and plot flow and the characters draw me in. However, I do love hanging out with cowboys.
