Happy Valentine’s Day good blog folk! Here on Ye Olde Blog of Heartbreaking Heroes we’re hopping. Blog hopping that is. And we’re talking about Heroes who break hearts. Whether they’re the bad boy turned good, the damaged hero whose had his heart broken or the hero who must win back the love of the woman whose heart he broke, I love them all.
Lucas, the hero in my romantic suspense novel, Rush, had his heart broken and must learn to love again and accept love in return. In this excerpt he’s just met, Mi (Miyuki) the woman he’s been assigned to protect. He’s attracted, but wary…
He hoped the second phone call he’d made while getting his bag from his car would answer some of his questions about Ms. Miyuki Price-Jones. And wasn’t she a puzzle to solve.
For a moment back there he’d been tempted. They’d been alone in the dark and he’d felt her. Her interest. Her arousal. It was almost a tangible thing. He could sense it, taste it, smell it. He wanted to drag her down then. Touch her in the ways she silently cried out to be touched. Her need was as confusing as it was inciting. He caught fire when she was near.
But there was a side of her that was untouchable. Where she hid things. He’d had enough of secrets and lies. Of lying by omission. Those, he’d learned, were the worst lies of all. Vanessa had taught him that on a summer’s day as late as this one. Finding out she was pregnant was a shock. But he’d stepped up, asked her to marry him. She’d accepted. He wouldn’t have said he loved Vanessa, but he would have taken care of her and their child. A child he wanted very badly.
And then Cal, good ole Cal, his pal from childhood had done him the great favor of informing him that Vanessa had been fucking her personal trainer on the side. Vanessa had cried. It was her greatest weapon against him. He’d almost given in then and married her anyway. Almost. Except for the teeny tiny fact that the baby wasn’t his.
That was a little over a year ago, and Lucas was just now repaying that great favor by protecting a woman who harbored more secrets than the Pentagon.

I think that Christian Grey from “50 Shades of Grey” is a good example of a heartbreaker. He used and abused Ana at first, but then came to his senses by book two.

For me the heartbreaker is a bad boy who goes kicking and screaming into love! When he falls he falls hard!
The only heartbreakers I have encountered are literary! And my all time fav is Mr Darcy! Although, I am currently crushing on Zadist from the Black Dagger Brotherhood!

My heart breaker is Eric Northman. Oh, he’s so bad, and every once in awhile you think he’s changed, and then there’s the old Eric back…

My favorite part of having a heart breaker is the world class groveling. Todd in Lauren Dane’s Laid Bare is my perfect example.

I like a hero who has to atone for his heartbreaking ways and make it up to the heroine. Second chances and fixing broken hearts are fun to read about.

My favorite heartbreaker is the one that your heart can’t live without. One of my best is Lucas from D B Reynolds book “Lucas” (Vampire in America series). Strong mind, well put together and tender when he needs to be.

My answer to your question on which heartbreaker is my favorite is two out of the three you listed. I love the broken bad boy who has a past he is trying to forget because of the damage that has been caused and the stories I love are the ones where that damaged hero finds true love and messes it up. Once he realizes his mistake he has to pick himself up and do everything he can to make amends with his love.
